Paul McFarlane is of counsel to SG+A. He joined the firm in February 2024. He has practiced law for over 25 years and is an experienced litigator. Paul practices in the areas of insurance defense and coverage, personal injury and property/casualty defense, employment, and general litigation in both state and federal courts. Paul is experienced in all aspects of trial preparation and has handled both jury and bench trials, as well as arbitrations. He is experienced in various forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Paul received a degree in history with Honors from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, in 1992. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude in 1995 from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. Paul is admitted to practice in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Idaho Academy for Leadership for Lawyers.
Before his career in law, Paul was a commercial fisherman in Alaska, working as a deckhand on crab boats and trawlers. In his free time, Paul enjoys skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, reading history, throwing tennis balls for two labrador retrievers, and cooking with his wife. In recent years he has taken up long distance backpacking and has completed the Pacific Crest Trail, the Sierra High Route and the Continental Divide Trail.
