Sam Johnson joined Scanlan Griffiths + Aldridge in December 2024. Prior to joining the firm, Sam completed a two-year clerkship with the Washington Court of Appeals’ Division III in Spokane, where he worked on both civil and criminal cases. After his clerkship, he worked at the Ada County Public Defender and gained extensive courtroom experience.
Sam graduated summa cum laude from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2021. As a student he served as the Chief Moscow Editor of the Idaho Law Review, earned CALI Awards in several classes, and completed judicial externships in state and federal courts.
Sam grew up (mostly) in Boise and frequently traveled north to spend time with family in Lewiston, Coeur d’Alene, and on the Palouse. Between college and law school he worked on statewide anti-hunger efforts through two AmeriCorps terms and a position at The Idaho Foodbank. In his free time, Sam enjoys going to the mountains, attending concerts, and playing board games.
